Perhaps when you read the headline above you think 'what a strange question!'. After all, it is stated on the watch how waterproof it is and it is also stated in the specifications of the brand? Correct! Your watch will definitely show how waterproof it is. But we'll tell you right away that there is a big chance that your watch is not as waterproof as you might think…
Does your watch for example state that it is water resistant to 30 meters (3 atmospheres/3 bar)? Then you may think that you can safely take a splash in the pool with your watch. Unfortunately: nothing could be further from the truth! You can NOT swim with a watch that is water resistant to 30 meters. In fact, you can't even take a shower with this watch.
A watch that is water resistant to 30 meters is really only splash proof. It can take a little rain, but nothing more.
With a watch that is water resistant to 50 meters (5 atmospheres/5 bar) you shouldn't think you can go snorkeling or diving with it. You can take a shower with this watch, but if you go swimming with it, there is a good chance that the internal timepiece will also swim with it. So don't!
And what about a watch that is water resistant to 100 meters (10 atmospheres/10 bar)? Do you have to be able to dive? Well no. So don't, it's not waterproof enough for that. You can swim with it, but you can't go underwater with it meters.
You can do meters underwater with a watch that states that it is water resistant to 200 meters (20ATM/20 bar). You should be able to dive with these kind of watches. We are not even talking about deep sea diving here, because these models are not just suitable for that.
Looking for a watch that can really go deep under water? What you can possibly go deep-sea diving with and what is also useful to you as a professional diver? Then a diving watch that is waterproof up to 200 meters according to ISO certification ISO6425 standard is an excellent choice. For the real thing and the deep seadiving we therefore recommend Citizen diving watches with excellent specifications and guaranteed water resistance. A large number of models are ISO certified and have therefore been extensively tested at 200 meters of water pressure. These models are therefore watertight for a guaranteed time at this water depth.
But also a watch that is water resistant up to 1000 meters (100 ATM or 100 bar), such as these Tauchmeister watches you can take with you into the deep sea.
