Lewis Hamilton's watch costs more than a Ferrari!

Geplaatst op 16-06-2025 door Marc Hut

As purebred Dutchmen, we are of course more interested in Max Verstappen's watch but still, the model that Formula 1 driver Lewis Hamilton was spotted with recently is really worth a Watch News. After all, his very limited Richard Mille is quite something both in terms of design and price: it is more expensive than the average Ferrari!

Split-Seconds Chronograph

If you thought Lewis Hamilton' s move to Ferrari was already a statement, wait until you see what he wears on his wrist. The British driver recently appeared with a watch as spectacular as his driving style: the Richard Mille RM 43-01 Ferrari Tourbillon Split-Seconds Chronograph. Now, Formula 1 drivers don't skimp on timepieces anyway, Lewis' watch worth over a million euros surely takes the crown.

Dit is het horloge van Lewis Hamilton

Richard Mille masterpiece

This particular Richard Mille timepiece was designed with the same obsession with technology and speed as the Formula 1 cars Hamilton drives. Lewis Hamilton was recently spotted with this top watch on his wrist during the media day for the Spanish Grand Prix. with this masterpiece recently during the media day for the Spanish Grand Prix. Well, as true Dutchmen, we obviously like Max Verstappen a lot more, but we still admire Lewis' latest timepiece!

Tourbillon and split-seconds chronograph

A tourbillon compensates for the influence of gravity on the watch, improving accuracy considerably. Add a split-seconds chronograph (rattrapante: a chronograph equipped with two second hands, one of which can be stopped) - which records intermediate and total times - and you have one of the most technically complex watches you can wear on your wrist.

Motorbike inspiration from Maranello

This particular model was developed in collaboration with Ferrari's Centro Stile. This model has X-shaped bridges that reinforce the chassis of the watch, and the pushers resemble air intakes.

Specs of this limited edition

The case of this exceptional Limited Edition watch measures 42.9 mm × 17.1 mm × 51.2 mm, it is water resistant to 50 metres. Would you also like such a unique model? Then you have a choice of:

  • Titan (75 pieces made, from €1.3 million)
  • Carbon TPT (75 pieces made, from €1.5 million)

And yes: so those will only get more valuable!

Inside, 514parts tapinto the hand-winding calibre RM 43-01, including 70-hour power reserve, torque and function indicators, and the skeleton movement shows the tourbillon at 4 o'clock with kinetic second blades above it.

Why does Lewis Hamilton choose this watch?

Since his move to Ferrari - AND Richard Mille as a partner - Hamilton has been into personal statement-pieces. Besides style, the Richard Mille watch Lewis wears especially shows his passion for technology.

Watch more expensive than a Ferrari

The price of a Ferrari varies greatly by model but these are guide prices in the Netherlands:

  • Ferrari Roma - from approx. €250,000

  • Ferrari 296 GTB - from around €300,000

  • Ferrari SF90 Stradale - from around €500,000

  • Ferrari Purosangue (SUV) - from approx. €440,000

  • Ferrari 812 Competizione - over €600,000

So a €1.3 million watch like the Richard Mille RM 43-01 is more expensive than almost any regular Ferrari model. Only extremely limited models or classic auction pieces exceed this amount.

What makes this watch an icon?

  • Technical beating heart: combination of tourbillon and split-seconds is watch hype at its best.
  • Design with story: every detail harks back to Ferrari's racing genes.
  • Ultra-exclusive: collector's item pure and simple.
