A watch made of Super Titanium can feel like "cheap" for a few reasons, despite being technically a high-end material:
Light weight: Super Titanium is about 40% lighter than stainless steel. This lower weight may feel to some as less "solid" or "expensive", simply because heavier watches are often subconsciously associated with quality.
Finish and feel: Although Super Titanium is harder and more scratch-resistant than normal titanium or steel (due to Citizen's Duratect coating), the surface often feels a bit "softer" or more plastic when touched, changing the perception of metal.
Acoustics and vibrations: Due to its low weight and other physical properties, a Super Titanium watch sounds different when you tap it or make it move - sometimes hollow or duller, which also contributes to the impression of "less quality".
Expectation: People who are used to heavier metal watches or luxury watches like those made of steel or gold may be surprised or disappointed if an expensive watch feels much lighter and "less solid".
Despite this perception, Super Titanium is actually very advanced: it is hypoallergenic, extremely corrosion-resistant, five times harder than steel, and thus very durable - perfect for everyday use. So the feeling of lightness is not a sign of inferior quality, but rather a technical advantage that requires habituation.
