The limited-edition Citizen Tsuyosa Shore Time Slip automatic had only just been announced by Citizen when we started receiving the first customer enquiries. This isn’t the first time this has happened. A new Citizen watch can attract a lot of attention even before it’s actually available in the online shop. With this model, we’d actually expected as much. A Citizen Tsuyosa appeals to a wide range of watch enthusiasts thanks to its combination of price, quality, automatic movement and distinctive design. With the Citizen Tsuyosa Shore NJ0238-57E, it is particularly the vintage look and the fact that it is a limited-edition watch that are generating extra interest.

It remains difficult to assess a watch based solely on official product photos. Photos show the design and colours well, but say less about aspects such as light reflection, shine, case finish and how a watch actually looks on the wrist. The Citizen NJ0238-57E has a stainless steel case with a diameter of 40 mm and a thickness of 12.5 mm. This gives the watch a sporty look on the wrist without being excessively large.
The Citizen Tsuyosa Shore NJ0238-57E combines a striking dial with a stainless steel case and a strap that appears to be integrated into the watch.
The watch is fitted with sapphire crystal. This type of watch glass is extremely hard and highly scratch-resistant, making it suitable for intensive daily use. The hands and hour markers are coated with luminescent material, ensuring that the time remains clearly legible even in low light.
Inside, the mechanical Citizen Calibre 8210 keeps time. This automatic movement is wound by the movement of the wrist whilst being worn, but can also be wound manually via the crown. When fully wound, the movement offers a power reserve of approximately 42 hours.
The calibre 8210 operates at a frequency of 21,600 vibrations per hour and features 21 jewels. In addition, the movement has a seconds-stop function, which stops the seconds hand when you pull out the crown to set the time accurately.
The Citizen Tsuyosa Shore NJ0238-57E is water-resistant to 10 bar, which corresponds to approximately 100 metres of water resistance under test conditions. The watch also features a unidirectional rotating bezel and a date display.
The back of the watch features a transparent caseback, allowing the mechanical movement to be seen. This fits in well with the character of this Tsuyosa, which combines a distinctive design with traditional mechanical watchmaking.
