The Citizen NK0040-58L brings together two worlds that you don’t often find in a single Citizen watch. The watch combines the sporty look of the Promaster Sky range with an automatic mechanical movement.
The 40 mm case is made from Super Titanium and is paired with a titanium bracelet. This keeps the weight down to around 100 grams. The blue dial and matching rotating bezel give the watch a distinct aviation-inspired look.
Around the dial is a slide rule scale that can be used to perform various practical calculations. Beneath the flat, anti-reflective sapphire crystal, the markings remain well protected, whilst luminous hands and hour markers ensure extra legibility in the dark.
The 8314 movement is automatically wound by the movement of your wrist. A fully wound mainspring provides approximately 60 hours of power reserve. This means, for example, that the watch can continue to run for much of the weekend even when you take it off.
Through the transparent screw-down caseback, you can view part of the mechanical movement yourself. This makes the NK0040-58L appealing to enthusiasts who wish to experience the technical character of an automatic watch. At the same time, this model retains many practical features befitting the Promaster range.
The 20 bar water resistance provides ample protection for use around water, and the sapphire crystal is highly scratch-resistant. Super Titanium, in particular, makes all the difference during everyday wear, as a watch of this size feels much lighter than a comparable steel model.
Finally, the blue colour scheme and aviation-style slide rule ensure a recognisable Promaster Sky look without relying on electronic functions.
