The Citizen Eco-Drive PHOTON BJ6560-53W marks fifty years of innovation with light energy. Citizen is launching this anniversary edition to celebrate the fiftieth anniversary of Eco-Drive, the technology that has been converting light into energy since 1976. Only 5,000 examples of this Super Titanium watch will be released worldwide !
The numbered case back featuring the anniversary logo and the special presentation box ensure that every piece is recognisable as part of this limited series. For collectors, this is a rare opportunity to add a completely new PHOTON design from the anniversary year to their collection. Due to the small global production run, long-term availability cannot be guaranteed.
Its distinctive character lies in the multi-layered dial. Two metal plates with undulating slits are superimposed on one another, creating a pattern that references light waves and the double-slit experiment. Beneath these layers lies a structural colour film. As a result, blue and purple hues appear through the openings, shifting as the viewing angle or light conditions change. The understated silver-coloured case allows this optical effect to come into its own, whilst the yellow seconds hand adds a distinctive accent.
The rounded octagonal case measures 39.6 millimetres and is just 9.9 millimetres thick. Super Titanium keeps the watch light on the wrist and offers high scratch resistance. The double-curved sapphire crystal reduces reflections and protects the layered design.
The new E036 movement operates on daylight and artificial light, runs for approximately one year on a full charge and has an accuracy of around fifteen seconds per month. With five bar water resistance, luminescent hands and hour markers, and a convenient strap adjustment mechanism, this anniversary edition combines exclusivity with everyday practicality.
