The Citizen Eco-Drive PHOTON BJ6569-59X is the definitive collector’s edition marking fifty years of Eco-Drive. Citizen is producing just 5,000 pieces of this black and gold edition worldwide. Crafted from Super Titanium, the case back features the anniversary logo and an individual serial number, allowing each owner to know their place within the limited run.
The special box features the characteristic slotted motif of the dial. This creates a complete collector’s item marking a milestone in Citizen’s history. Due to the fixed production run, global availability is demonstrably limited.
The BJ6569-59X opts for striking contrast. The case and integrated bracelet combine dark Duratect DLC finishes with warm amber-yellow elements. Depending on the angle of the light, blue, green and purple structural colours appear through the slits in the metal dial.
A purple seconds hand enhances the futuristic character. The three-dimensional pattern is inspired by photons and the double-slit experiment. In this way, the workings of light are not concealed, but rather become the most important visual element.
Despite its rare nature, this PHOTON is designed for everyday use. The rounded octagonal case has a diameter of 39.6 millimetres and a height of 9.9 millimetres. Super Titanium keeps the watch light on the wrist, whilst the hard Duratect finish offers protection against signs of wear. The double-curved sapphire crystal has an anti-reflective coating, ensuring the intricate dial remains clearly visible.
Calibre E036 draws energy from natural and artificial light, continues to run for approximately one year after a full charge and has an accuracy of around fifteen seconds per month. With five bar water resistance, luminescent hands and hour markers, and an adjustable titanium strap, this is a rare anniversary edition that doesn’t need to be kept in a safe.
