Citizen Promaster Wave Tracker: made for the water

In a nutshell: the Citizen Promaster Wave Tracker is a sporty water sports watch with smart features for sailing, tides, timing and outdoor use.

Citizen Wave Tracker horloges

Citizen is expanding the Promaster collection with four new Wave Tracker models. These watches are designed for sailing, water sports and outdoor use, but are also appealing to anyone who loves a technical, robust and eye-catching watch.

The Promaster line is known for functional watches that not only look good but, above all, are designed to perform practically. The Wave Tracker fits that description perfectly. This is no standard sports watch, but a Citizen watch with features that really come in handy on and around the water.

As soon as the models are available, you can also order the Citizen Promaster Wave Tracker from WatchXL.

Four models, each with its own distinct look

Why this is interesting: the four versions share the same technical basis, but differ clearly in appearance, strap material and colour scheme.

The series consists of the JV3000 13E, JV3002 51E, JV3006 50L and JV3001 53E. With these, Citizen offers a choice of different styles, ranging from distinctly sporty to technical and classic.

The JV3000 13E has a rugged black look with a strap made from biomass-based polyurethane. This makes it sporty, practical and comfortable during active use on the water. The other three models have a steel watch strap, giving them a slightly sturdier and more luxurious feel.

The JV3002 51E stands out thanks to its light gold-coloured case and strap. The JV3006 50L has a blue dial that complements the Wave Tracker’s maritime character. The JV3001 53E opts for a more classic black look with steel, making it a strong choice for anyone looking for a sporty Citizen Promaster watch that is also suitable for everyday wear.

What’s on the dial?

In short: the Wave Tracker combines analogue hands with a digital MIP display, allowing you to quickly read the time, timer functions and water information.

The Wave Tracker is a hybrid watch featuring analogue hands and a clear digital MIP display. A MIP display is renowned for its excellent readability, making it ideal for bright daylight, changing weather conditions and active outdoor use.

The dial displays, among other things, the time, race timer functions, tide chart, moon phase, sunrise and sunset. This makes this Citizen watch particularly appealing to water sports enthusiasts, sailors and outdoor enthusiasts who want more than just a time display.

The hands and hour markers are luminescent and there is also an LED light. This is useful at dusk, in the evening or in poor visibility. Quick readability is a key advantage, particularly in a sports watch designed for water and outdoor use.

What is the ring around the dial for?

Why this model is interesting: the rotating ring is not just decorative, but helps sailors estimate course, wind angle and direction.

The rotating ring around the dial is no ordinary decorative bezel. This ring features point-of-sail markings and serves as an aid for sailors.

Point of sail refers to the position of a sailing boat in relation to the wind. Think of markings that help determine whether you are sailing close-hauled, on a broad reach or running, for example. The ring allows you to better estimate angles, direction and sailing courses in relation to the wind.

This fits perfectly with the character of this Promaster. The Citizen Promaster Wave Tracker is clearly designed as an instrument watch for people who take time, water, wind and direction seriously.

Under the hood: Citizen Caliber U812 with Eco-Drive

In short: Eco-Drive charges using light, so you don’t need to change the battery and the watch remains usable for a long time.

Inside is the new Citizen Caliber U812. This Eco-Drive movement is charged by light and, when fully charged, can run for up to three years whilst conserving energy. Eco-Drive is one of Citizen’s best-known technologies and uses natural and artificial light to store energy.

You also get a perpetual calendar, a rate accuracy of approximately 15 seconds per month, a 24-hour chronograph, a light level indicator, a power reserve indicator and 20 bar water resistance. A chronograph is a stopwatch function that allows you to measure time intervals. In a water sports watch, this is useful for training sessions, starts, races and other moments where timing is important.

The anti-reflective sapphire crystal ensures excellent readability. Sapphire crystal is highly scratch-resistant and therefore suitable for a watch intended for active use. The combination of Eco-Drive, sapphire crystal, 20 bar water resistance and sailing-oriented functions makes the Citizen Promaster Wave Tracker a seriously technical watch within the Promaster collection.
